In his Easter message for this year, the governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has urged citizens of the state to uphold the common humanity of all people as well as uphold their obligations for peace and harmony in communities.

The governor  also called on everyone to join the state government in the efforts being made to  find lasting solutions to the security challenges confronting the state.

According to him, “As we celebrate Easter, I wish to appeal to all our citizens to embrace firmly our common humanity and uphold our obligations for peace and harmony in our communities. Let us isolate and expose the criminals that menace us, while we all do our utmost to ensure that our diverse communities live in peace and resolve differences peacefully.”

He felicitates with the Christian faithful in the state on the occasion of Easter, expressing the hope that the lesson embodied in the reason for the season are imbibed by all.

“It is my pleasure to felicitate with the Christian faithful in Kaduna State on the occasion of Easter. The lessons of sacrifice and the message of hope that these celebrations embody have a special resonance this year,” he said in a message on his facebook page.

He further notes that, “the celebrations in 2021 are taking place in a different atmosphere from those of 2020 when a significant part of Lent and Easter itself were held under conditions of strict lockdown and restrictions on the movement of persons.”

While commending churches for their compliance with the stated protocols, he equally acknowledged  that amidst the uncertainties and disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, many citizens made sacrifices to comply with the preventive public health measures that were imposed to manage the situation.  “We acknowledge these sacrifices and commend the churches for taking steps to ensure that congregational worship is done in safe conditions,” he stated.

However, according to him,  “while the pandemic persists, we can say that we are in a much better place than in 2020, thanks to the benevolence of Almighty God who has bestowed His grace on the efforts of mere mortals. We have a duty to continue our compliance with the preventive protocols against Covid-19 as we continue to safely pursue livelihoods and move forward with personal responsibility.”
