The governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has said his government will continue to support the Nigeria Police Force in its effort to curb banditry that some criminal elements perpetrate in the state.
He added that bandits were becoming bolder as they had started to operate closer to towns rather than in remote areas as it used to be the case, citing example of the kidnapping and killing of some students of Greenville University located on the Abuja-Kaduna expressway some kilometers to the city centre. He however noted that his government was doing its best to curtail the menace.
The governor said this after the latest State Security Council meeting that had in attendance heads of the security agencies, top government functionaries as well traditional rulers in the state.
According to El-Rufai, “The police are the only police we have, with all their deficiencies we have to encourage them, we have to help them in their fight against criminals who operated in the state.”
He also sought the cooperation of all residents in the state, adding that with the cooperation of all and with prayer to God, the end of the menace would be in sight.
