EXTRA-MARITAL AFFAIR: ALABUKUN Maker, Rotimi Odulate, in fresh child maintenance cost mess, dragged to Lagos court

By Our Reporter

The maker of ALABUKUN pain killer drug, Mr Rotimi Odulate, has found himself in another child maintenance cost mess as a Nigerian woman drags him to a Lagos Court. This revelation is contained in a court paper Elrufai News Magazine discovered in the course of an investigation. In Suit Number LD/4000MJR/2022, and which was assigned to the Record Section of the Lagos State Judiciary’s Magisterial District (Family Court), the appellant, one Ms Elsie Eluwa, sought to appeal a ruling delivered in a Lagos Court over a suit she filed for maintenance cost for a child she claimed to have had for Odulate.

In what appears to be a pattern of immature and irresponsible behaviour, it would be recalled that Elrufai News Magazine (ENM) previously reported that Odulate equally refused to pay maintenance cost for the two children he had with his wife, Mrs Rihole Odulate (now ex-wife). A UK court had ruled in a divorce case filed by Ms Rihole that Mr Odulate should pay for the maintenance of his children. This, it was alleged, the ALABUKUN drug maker blatantly refused to do, thereby leaving his ex-wife with the burden of caring for their children alone.

In a petition written to the Inspector General of Police, Mr Alkali Baba, dated 20th December 2022, lawyers to Ms Rihole, Baron and Stagger, assert that Mr Odulate has refused to pay for the maintenance of the children of his marriage and has instead resorted to using the police to harass Ms Rihole, her family members, as well as seize her property. This has put her in serious financial distress.

In the petition written to the IG, lawyers to Ms Rihole further noted that during the divorce proceedings in the UK court, she (Ms Rihole) was awarded maintenance cost for the children of their marriage. However, “it is because of the MPS (maintenance cost) that Mr Odulate is using all efforts to thwart. Among such efforts is deliberately lying to the Nigeria Police and Interpol, that our Client misappropriated company property, without informing the Nigeria Police or Interpol that he was our Client’s ex-husband and or that she was a shareholder of Metro Group Limited (MGL) which was therefore owned by our Client and her ex-husband, as well as the pending divorce Financial Remedy in England, together with the enforcement cases in Nigeria.”

In the case of the court papers which ‘cause of action’ read, “Maintenance”, and filed on March 25, 2022 by Eluwa’s lawyers, Lexfield Ace Partners led by Mr Adedayo Adamolekun, Eluwa sought for extension of time in which she could appeal a judgement given in a previous suit.  This said judgement was given on March 10, 2022 in suit Number SUIT NO: FCL/07/2021 in which Eluwa sought maintenance cost for the baby she claimed she gave birth to for Odulate. From all available records, Odulate was still apparently married to his now ex-wife, Ms Rihole, at the time Eluwa claimed she had a baby for him.

According to the court paper with Suit Number LD/4000MJR/2022, Eluwa’s lawyers were seeking “AN ORDER extending the time within which the Appellant/Applicant (Ms Eluwa) may seek leave to appeal the Ruling of the Magistrate’s Court (Family Court), Lagos Magisterial District, coram B.O Osunsanmi (Mrs.) delivered on the 10th March, 2022 in SUIT NO: FCL/07/2021 to this honorable court – AND FOR SUCH FURTHER ORDERS that this Honourable Court may deem fit to make in the circumstance.”
