As part of his government’s Urban Renewal Programme the Kaduna State Government has completed work, except for decorative touches, on the well-known Kawu bridge in the Kaduna State capital. The governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, brought to the attention of the public the current state of the bridge recently, the first time he publicly introduced what observers have tagged the signature project of his government’s Urban Renewal Programme.
In the latest post on his facebook page, the governor showed a picture with an aerial view of the bridge, noting that indeed “KDSG has been praised for Kawo Bridge with three rotaries”.
The bridge that once had two underpasses now boasts of not less than seven underpasses which makes it possible for vehicles to pass freely, completely removing the notorious traffic jam associated with the bridge.
Kawu bridge is crucial in this location as it is the major road to all parts of the north-west and traffic congestion here is one of the problems the government wanted to deal with.
Observers have since noted that Kawu bridge is indeed both a physical and visual masterpiece judging by the aerial view of the picture that the state governor introduces to the public.
