The governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has eulogised the good qualities of the pioneer Executive Vice-Chairman of the Kaduna State Peace Commission and a new appointee of the African Union, Priscilla Ankut.  He also wishes her success in her new endeavours.

The governor, while speaking at the recent launch of the Conflict Early Warning and Early Response System (CEWERS) of the Kaduna State Peace Commission which held in Kaduna, noted that Ankut had been a major contributor to the success achieved so far by the Peace Commission, describing her as a competent and result-oriented person.

Ankut is an indigene of Kaduna State and has recently been given an appointment in another peace-building position at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

According to El-Rufai, “We have had in Priscilla Ankut a competent, result-oriented pioneer Executive Vice-Chairman of the Peace Commission. I wish to seize this opportunity to express the government’s gratitude for Priscilla’s contribution to the advancement of peace and harmony in Kaduna State.

“As she moves on to assume another peace-building position at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, we want Priscilla to know that we are proud of her as a daughter of Kaduna State, and we are elated by AU’s recognition of her proven capabilities.

“We are confident that she will bring her national experience scaled up to the continental level. The government and people of Kaduna State wish her every success.”

The governor also thanked all the members of the Peace Commission, led by His Grace, Reverend Dr. Josiah Idowu-Fearon, for their efforts, noting that the Kaduna State Executive Council decided to constitute the Commission as an institutional mechanism to help prevent conflict and incline communities to a peaceful resolution of differences in the state.

He expressed the confidence that an early warning and response system designed by the Peace Commission would no doubt contribute to helping Kaduna State to overcome the past  legacy of conflict.
